Can you help raise vital funds for Crawley Open House and their work with homeless and vulnerable people locally – by sleeping out at home for one night this November? Crawley Open House is an independent local charity which offers accommodation and support to those who find themselves homeless. https://www.crawleyopenhouse.co.uk/what-we-do

I am always shocked to see people sleeping outside and it makes me feel very uncomfortable and angry that this can happen in such a wealthy country in 2020, so I have decided to join Crawley Open House’s fundraising sleep out this year and spend a night outdoors on Friday 20th Novemberhttps://www.crawleyopenhouse.co.uk/sleepoutathome

Sleeping outside for one night won’t be anything like being homeless, but it will maybe give a glimpse of the discomfort, cold and lack of sleep which is the nightly reality for too many people.

Are you able to help give up your bed for one night and be sponsored for doing this? Crawley Open House would love people to join in, with friends, family or colleagues. You can sleep in your kitchen, on your floor, in your garage, in your shed – anywhere but in your bed. Whatever you do you need to make sure that you are safe and you have permission, and that you are doing this within Covid-19 guidelines.

I’m going to be doing this with my dad because it will be outside of our garden in a public place. It can get below freezing in late November so we think we will probably have to have a basic tent as well as a sleeping bag but we are aiming for as little comforts as possible so that it is a proper challenge. We will post updates and share photos.

If you would like to donate £2, the cost of a hot drink, to Crawley Open House, or whatever you can spare, this would be really appreciated. I have made a Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/edwingreensleepsout

Please share this with anyone who you think might like to donate, or maybe you can join us.

Thanks for reading, Edwin
