Here’s a charity challenge to see you through the summer holidays and beyond – and it won’t cost you a penny!

The Shark Trust relies on the public to identify and record sightings of egg cases from local species of shark and skate, to help them build a comprehensive picture of their lives and work to protect their environments.

In this video, Mr Wells chats with Paul Cox from the Shark Trust about the project and shares some insights into finding egg cases on the beach.

All students are invited to search for, document and record egg case sightings for the Shark Trust. As an incentive, we will award one house point for each egg case found and recorded when we return in September – to qualify, you will need to provide evidence of your finds. A good way to do this is to collect photos of the egg cases you’ve found in a set of Google Slides, along with screengrabs showing that you have shared the data with the Shark Trust.

A set of slides has already been created for you to use in a dedicated Shark Trust Challenge classroom on Google Classroom – the code will have been sent to you via a school email. If you didn’t get it, please email Mr Wells to request it.

Mr Wells will add more videos about marine life conservation over the holiday period. Stay tuned.
